Australian Bush Comfort and Confidence (ABCC)

The Australian outdoors is a place full of wonder, beauty and adventure and comes with many physical  and mental health benefits. However not everyone feels comfortable stepping out of the city and into the bush, especially if they’ve never had anyone show them how to.

Our ABCC is a fun, interactive and hands-on workshop where we give multicultural communities (and others with low confidence) the skills, knowledge and confidence to be able step out into the Australian bush. We blend a mix of practical exercises such as safe campsite selection, campfire skills (building, maintaining and safely extinguishing a fire), setting up a tent, snake and spider awareness and  first aid and bush navigation with other sessions on bushfire awareness, swimming safety and planning including what to take (and not take!), weather, equipment, information access and even some Aussie slang!

PLUS at each session we have a $50 prize of outdoor equipment and discount vouchers from Aussie Disposals along with toasted marshmallows on the fire and surprise treats for the kids.

In response to participant feedback we are now running our ABCC as an extended version overnight! In additional to all your favourite activities we include camp cooking, animal tracking, wildlife spotlighting, fireside story telling and night time navigation.

The sessions have been extremely popular and book out quickly. Check the "Book an event" button on the top right for our next session!

“The ABCC session with Rob and Emma was just what I needed to give me and the children the confidence and skills so that we can get out and explore the wild places around" (ABCC participant March 2025)
